The Making of a Disciple

The life of a disciple of Jesus is multidimensional.  Discipleship does not simply mean we begin to follow Jesus in a personal and private way.  Following Jesus changes who and what we worship (Up); following Jesus impacts how we do life with others (In); and following Jesus impacts how we see and relate to the world (Out).  It is the multidimensional impact of Up, In and Out which leads to a truly transformed life.  The Making of a Disciple will equip us to answer the longing of all of creation, seeing the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God.

The Making of a Disciple: Restoring God’s Family in a World of Orphans

Pastor Kevin Brown

In the garden mankind lost relationship with their Father (Up).  As a result, we lost the ability to love and live with one another as God intended (In).  Orphaned, without a Father and without one another, we lost what was needed to relate properly to creation and establish thriving, flourishing social constructs (Out).  Jesus came to restore our Up life with the Father, our In life with one another and our Out life — relating properly to creation and establishing Christ centered society.  We’ve been invited into the greatest project in human history — Restoring God’s Family in a World of Orphans.

The Making of a Disciple: Restoring People, Places and Things

Pastor Kevin Brown

Salvation, following Jesus and being a disciple is about more than our relationship with God. God is restoring and redeeming our lives and our love in three directions — Up, In and Out. When man fell in the garden, we lost our “Up relationship” — with God, we lost our “In relationship” — with one another, and we lost our “Out relationship" — with society. To be a disciple is to follow God into the restoration of all things.

The Making of a Disciple: Three Expressions, Three Relationships

Pastor Kevin Brown

Do you want to make a great impact in this world and the lives of others?  Do you long to be used in a way that is more meaningful and fulfilling?  Do you sense God calling you to more, but you're not quite sure what that more might be?  We’re sitting in the midst of one of the most significant parts of God’s plan for our lives.  This church family is the place where God wants to give us a mission and purpose beyond what we’ve realized.  The church our rebirth family, is the greenhouse where God purposed to bring about our greatest growth and greatest fruitfulness.

A Special Message: Look Up Again

Elder Mary Jackson

We have a birth family and a rebirth family. We have a family of formation and origin and we have a family of transformation and rebirth. It is this combination of our Up Life with God and our In Life with the Family of God or our Rebirth Family that creates the context for accessing and experiencing new life in Christ.

The Making of a Disciple: With God

Pastor Kevin Brown

In the chaos of the human experience, our lives often become driven by what we are doing "for God" or what we are doing "for ourselves". But neither "for God" or "for ourselves" really grasps the essence of life as God intended. God's design for our lives is rooted in "with God". It is "with God" that we come to understand and access the strength, perspective, inspiration and endurance He intended for His sons and daughters. A healthy Up life is rooted in living "with God”.

The Making of a Disciple: Looking Up

Pastor Kevin Brown

All of creation is waiting. We're all looking, waiting and longing for something beyond where we are presently. What creation is truly longing for is the manifestation of God's sons and daughters. Even we are looking for a version of us that is yet to be. Look Up!
