Mourning in Faith

Pastor Kevin Brown

Mourning must be our response when our lives are touched by the fallenness of those close to us; when we see our own sin and when we see the sin of the world around us. When we see and experience these things and fail to mourn -- by turning to God and crying out to Him -- we become prideful, self-pitying and full of despair. Mourning delivers us from ourselves and our conclusions into God and His promises. We must mourn and we must mourn in faith.

Releasing the Comforter

Pastor Kevin Brown

The suffering we experience in this world is attached to purposes far bigger than our lives. Our willingness to mourn -- turning to God persistently with our hurts, disappointments and sorrows -- empties us of self-focused and self-contrived remedies and leads to accessing God's supernatural comfort. Releasing the comforter is attached to our mourning.

The Comfort of God

Pastor Kevin Brown

White, black, brown, yellow, poor, rich, male, female, tall, short, young, old, educated, self-taught, Christian, Muslim, Jew, married, single and so on -- no one is exempt, this life will break you. Jesus knew this and His answer to this unavoidable reality was, "blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted." All of our addictions and dysfunctions are rooted in our inability to mourn. We must learn to mourn. We must learn to mourn and access the comfort of God as a way of life.

The Cry God Hears

Minister Angela Brown

“God help me!” “Fix it Jesus!” “Save me Lord!” These are all common cries to God in times of trouble. Although necessary, shallow appeals like these frequently cease when we believe we’ve received the answer or help we want, often forfeiting the process of mourning for the “path of least resistance.” But how do we even know when our cries have reached God? More importantly, how do we respond when God cries out to us—do we even hear Him? It’s in places of mourning where God not only hears us, we hear Him, receiving His divine instructions and experiencing what is impossible with man—miracles, signs and wonders.

The Cry of a City

Pastor Kevin Brown

We don't often think of cities in human terms, but we should.  If all we consider when thinking of a city is its crime rate, its poverty, its arts and culture or its sports teams we miss a very real truth and quite possibly our personal why and reason for being.  Cities are living, breathing masses of humanity working together to flourish and find fulfillment in life.  Cities have scars, pains, histories, aspirations, dreams and hopes.  Cities laugh, cities hope and yes, cities cry.

Hear Our Cry

Pastor Kevin Brown

Get over it!  It’s not that bad.  You’ve been through worse.  So much of contemporary culture is dominated by an unwillingness to experience and acknowledge mourning and sorrow.  In our insatiable efforts to see the bright side of things we can lose our ability to truly mourn.  We’ve been taught to see no value in feeling loss, hurt, grief or remorse.  But a society void of true mourning also becomes a society void of true joy. A society void of true mourning also becomes a society void of compassion and empathy.  A society void of mourning becomes incapable of releasing the cry that brings it close to the heart of God.

Like A Child

Elder Curtis Myers

Our culture is constantly comparing performances to identify greatness. This has shaped our values from inward heart humility to outward performance anxiety.  However the Father is more concerned with our motives than performance.  He speaks to us from a place of acceptance then transforms us through His word & the Holy Spirit.  This heart change characterizes the Kingdom Within.

Healing the Orphaned Heart

Pastor Kevin Brown

Humanity became orphaned in the garden.  We rejected our spiritual relationship with our Heavenly Father in the first generation of our existence in the earth.  Orphaned hearts are the greatest and most destructive curse in our lives and the earth today. We must be healed by the grace of God our Father or we will end in destruction.

Defeating the Spirit of Divorce

Elder Mike Dixon

One of the most critical elements to the advancement of the Kingdom of God is the covenant of marriage and the formation of the family unit. Uncontrolled anger and lust are weapons the enemy uses to mitigate divorce and thereby destroy the family. We must recognize the destructiveness of divorce – mentally, emotionally, socially, financially, spiritually and generationally and use everything within heaven’s love arsenal to defeat the spirit of divorce.

Breaking the Addiction to Lust

Pastor Kevin Brown

Jesus continues to establish His "Kingdom Within" by rescuing us from the eternally destructive power of illicit sexual desire. The enemy of lust has caused more destruction to lives, families, children and society than almost anything that can be named -- second only to anger, contempt and violent judgement. We must break the addiction to lust or it will irreparably break us.

Unsurrendered Anger Is The Kiss of Death

Pastor Kevin Brown

Anger is not a result of the fall nor is it a sin to be angry. God gave us emotions and anger is a part of those emotions. But anger, left unsurrendered to God and acted upon is the kiss of death. A person in the habit of becoming angry and claiming the right to do whatever comes next because someone made them angry, is the person Jesus had in mind when He declared they are in danger of "the judgement, the council and hell fire." Anger left unsurrendered destroys the personality, character and heart of the person. Unsurrendered anger is the kiss of death.

The Kingdom Within: The Power of Community

Elder Curtis Myers

The Kingdom of God calls us into relationship with Him and with one another. Living in community transforms us through the blessings and challenges of interpersonal relationships. As we esteem one another we follow God’s prescription that brings healing into our lives and into the lives of others. It is critical that we live in healthy community in order to extend the Kingdom of God. Quite simply-we need each other.

Becoming the Woman God Made: A Celebration of the Office of Woman

By Mary Jackson, Angela M. Brown, LeToyja Averhart

Innate to the woman God made upon creation is the ability to mother. Whether or not we have children of our own, inherent to us is the ability to help, nurture, incubate, problem-solve, adapt, protect, hold up and hold it down! Women are not only the rib, in many cases we're the backbone, because if we fall apart, so does everything else. This Mother’s Day Message celebrates all women, highlighting the unique abilities God has graced women with, to not only be restored to the woman God made, but for women to play a role in the restoration of mankind as she serves in the home, in the marketplace and in ministry.

Overcoming the Kiss of Death

By Elder Pastor Kevin Brown

Jesus begins the work of His Kingdom Within by addressing the Kingdom inhibiting and destructive nature of anger.  Anger left unsurrendered to God becomes contempt and ultimately violent judging of individuals and entire people groups.  Anger becomes the kiss of death in our lives when we don't allow it to be the alarm it was meant to be, pointing us to the assumed rights, judgments and ungodly attitudes we carry within.

Being Disruptive Light

By Elder Curtis Myers

Being the salt & light in our world requires disruptive action lead by the Holy Spirit. We must see needs and be willing to be inconvenienced to bring about His will in the earth. As we reflect His light we become ambassadors of reconciliation in the role God has called us-sons & daughters.

The Kingdom Within - Making Ander Bow and Confess

By Pastor Kevin Brown

What if being a follower of Jesus went beyond repeating a prayer, attending a weekly service and giving as an act of worship?  What if our adherence to the scriptures went beyond groupthink and shared norms?  What if the Kingdom of God was within us and God wanted to shape every aspect of our lives individually and interpersonally? Those revolutionary thoughts are exactly what Jesus taught and demonstrated to be true.  They're what He died to prove and was resurrected to establish.  The Kingdom Within.

Jesus did not come to begin a new religion -- a faith characterized by rules and systems -- as much as He came to ignite a revolution -- a fundamental change in power and structures igniting an uprising against accepted norms. Jesus was a revolutionary, who came to establish a revolution in the heart of each of His followers. He came to establish -- The Kingdom Within.

Disruptors: Jesus the Disruptive King

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Most of us have the wrong picture of Jesus. We typically imagine Him as the loving, selfless, compassionate savior. Jesus would be more accurately described as a disruptor. In fact, Jesus was the most disruptive presence to ever walk the earth. He came to interrupt, overturn and redirect every accepted norm of human life. Jesus the disruptor represented and established a new power, a new authority, a new holiness, a new righteousness and a new goodness. Jesus is the Disruptive King.

Disruptors: Sent to Disrupt

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Salt and light meant something very different to that first century audience than it does to us today. But the truth Jesus was presenting to them then is no less disruptive to us and our way of life two-thousand years later than it was for them. Surrendering ourselves to the Spirit and living out the beatitudes is going to disrupt our lives and disrupt this world. Jesus came and He sent to disrupt.

Disruptors: The Peacemakers Blessing

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Entrance into God’s Kingdom with its eternal purposes and plans comes with blessing and persecution. It comes with blessing because our lives and actions cease to be our own and we enter into the eternal rule and reign of the Kingdom of Heaven now. It comes with persecution because there are eternal forces of evil that oppose God’s rule. There are people dead in sin, who prefer darkness over light.

Disruptors: The Peacemakers Blessing

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Into a world filled with sin, violence, hate and division Jesus sends us as peacemakers. We aren’t given the choice of whether or not we would like to be peacemakers -- to be God's child is to be a peacemaker.  The hallmark of being in the family of God is being a person who lives to make peace.  Blessed are the peace makers for they will be called the children of God.

Disruptors: The Pure Hearted

By Pastor Kevin Brown

This sixth beatitude cuts to the heart of the matter. In this world things are not as they appear. The original design and intent for creation has been perverted. The world and its inhabitants have been contaminated and infected by sin and death -- we go for what we know, we want things our way and if it feels good we do it. Functioning in that perverted way, we will never see God and His intention for creation. To that first century audience, as well as each of us here today, Jesus declares "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!”

Disruptors: Give 'Em Mercy

By Pastor Kevin Brown

They were looking for a Messiah that would get revenge and bring about justice for them.  Their babies had been killed by the Roman appointed "King of the Jews", Herod. They lived under oppressive and inhumane conditions, making Rome rich while ruining their businesses, families and communities.  They had no representation and very little power.  Their true leaders were killed, while those who were given positions of leadership were often nothing more than Rome’s puppets.  They were waiting for a Messiah that would make things right — not tell them to be merciful.

Disruptors: Control Your Appetite

By Minister Mike Dixon

We each have different appetites, desires and pursuits, but they must be in agreement with what heaven wants for our lives. Jesus makes a bold guarantee, that if our appetite is sanctified to pursue God’s righteousness, we will not be denied. The question is, will we allow our divine appetite to be suppressed by fear, selfishness and greed or will we only be satisfied with fulfilling the plans of God.

Disruptors: The Earth is Going to the Meek

By Pastor Kevin Brown

We live in a world that can be ruthless and unapologetic. But the earth is going to the meek. Meekness is an attitude of heart, where all of our efforts and energies are brought into the Kingdom of God, controlled by and surrendered to the King of Kings. The meek realize they own nothing, so God is seeing to it that they inherit everything.

Disruptors: God's Kingdom for Our Mourning

By Pastor Kevin Brown

While modern culture encourages us to be self-confident and self-sufficient -- God says those who don't hide under a cloak of self-adequacy are blessed. The supernatural comfort of His Kingdom is for those who genuinely mourn over their sins, inadequacies and distance from Him. God's Kingdom brings the only true and lasting comfort for our mourning.

Disruptors: Disruptive Kingdom

By Pastor Kevin Brown

God's intent for us has always been His Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is our life, discovered and experienced in His life, and our purposes, discovered and experienced in His eternal purposes. Our falling away from God in the Garden was not the end of God's Kingdom. It was an interruption to our automatic and willing participation in His Kingdom. Jesus' entrance into this world was a disruption to life outside of the Kingdom and an invitation into the righteousness, peace and joy for which we were made

Disruptors: Come Out

By Pastor Kevin Brown

We will never live and fulfill what God has preordained for us, our families and our church, until we disrupt things by coming out of our tendency to be fear-driven and safety-idolizing. People are more divided and fear filled than any other time in recent history. This is largely driven by the hyper-connected, hyper-sensationalized, global world in which we live. We are far more diverse but far less neighborly. The whole world is at our doorstep but we are afraid. Our decision to come out of fear and into love is going to change nearly everything about us and nearly everything about this world.

Disruptors: Coming Together

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Nothing comes together and remains the same. Whether it's people, companies or countries, coming together disrupts what was and brings about something new. God is the chief convener. He has filled this earth with the essential parts to bring about His plans -- He combines and disrupts, bringing it all to His desired end.

Disruption: Repurposing the Church to Redeem the Community

By Dr. Mark DeYmaz

Today, no matter where you turn, people are bowed up, choosing sides, and vilifying people that don't agree with them on matters of race, class, culture, gender, religion, politics, and even on whether or not to stand, sit, or kneel during the playing of our national anthem. Could it be for such a time as this that God has brought us here: To a place of understanding and passion? To disrupt the status quo? To repurpose the church to redeem the community? To become peacemakers in a painfully polarized society? Indeed, this should be our finest hour. To embrace it is to shape the future of things to come.

Disruptors: When Jesus Comes In

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Jesus' entrances are always disruptive.  Sometimes His arrival is obvious and others not so obvious, but when He comes things are always disrupted.  When absolute life, truth and power enter a dying, sin-stained and corrupt world, there will be disruption.  Wherever and whenever Jesus enters things change.  He is the ultimate disruptor.  The things in our lives and this world that seem so set and unchangeable are all subject to change when Jesus comes in.

Salt & Light 2017

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Both salt and light are disruptive.  Neither of them exist in a quiet passive way neither of them come without disruption.

To ready ourselves and to position our hearts we are beginning this year with a 21-day fast beginning tomorrow January 9th and ending January 29th. We’re calling it Unleashing God’s Disruptive Power 21-days of fasting and prayer because God is going to come in, He's going to cause some things to come out and He is bringing some things together.  During the Unleashing God’s Disruptive Power 21-day fast, we will pray three times a day—morning, midday and evening—focused on the following areas: come in, come out and come together.

New Year’s Eve celebration

By Pastor Kevin Brown

2016 was a LEAP year. God’s intent in 2016, was for us to LEAP out of our strength, out of our ways and out of our desired ends. He was calling us to LEAP into His strength, His ways and His desired ends. We are living in a series of divinely orchestrated events. God is moving us from dependence upon our strength, into a place of rest, where we cease from our works and enter into His. LEAP was not just a word just for 2016. LEAP’ing is the way of life God has declared over us. We will be LEAP’ing until that day, soon to come, when we LEAP and are caught up forever to be with Him.

Awestruck: Worshipping at the Right Well

By Pastor Kevin Brown

God wants our worship. He doesn't wa3nt our empty, repetitious acts, performed in an attempt to get some other object of affection. God needs to be the one we crave and are unwilling to do without. He alone has the living waters which remedy our simplest and deepest needs. He is the well with the living water we must learn to worship in spirit and in truth.

We are all awestruck — filled with a wonder and desire that causes us to be in constant pursuit. At this very moment and for as long as this world remains, everybody in it will be awestruck. We’re all desiring, pursuing and serving, something or someone.  The entire human race is comprised of billions of awestruck, unceasing worshippers.

Honor: Honoring Father and Mother

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The distinguishing characteristic of the culture of God’s Kingdom is honor. Every single inhabitant of Heaven walks in honor — respecting, revering, holding in high esteem and with a fixed sense of worth, for God first and foremost and for one another. That kind of honor is a forgotten and lost aspect in the cultures of this world. If we are going to be a part of ushering God’s Kingdom into the kingdoms of this world, it will be because we have been delivered from the dishonor that rules in hearts and minds here.

Honor: Honor One Another

By Minister Curtis Myers

God has placed His presence in our lives but it’s Honor that releases the power of His presence.  Our ability to see each other the way God sees us brings the transformation in our lives and the expectation of His purposes fulfilled.  There are assignments that God has that will not be fulfilled if we don’t honor one another.  To lead us in honoring God and one another, He has given us Pastors to build our relationship with God and community with one another.  This is a season for us to hear & see in ways we have never done before as we LEAP into 2017!

Honor: Honor One Another – No Honor, No Glory

By Minister Mike Dixon

Honor is the culture of heaven. We humans are the image bearers of God sent to the earth to expand His Kingdom in the visible realm. He designed us, male and female, with different functions but with equal value in the Kingdom. Satan would have us dishonor one another with our words, deeds and thoughts because he knows that where there is no honor, God will not manifest His glory.

Honor: In But Not of This World

By Pastor Kevin Brown

There is a long and rich history of civil disobedience in the first and second testament of the Bible.  That history has its roots in a people living and giving their lives for an eternal King, making His will and ways known to temporary kings in a temporary world.  Those He used were not tied to a world fading away, but to a Kingdom making its entrance.  Those He used were not rebels or anarchists, seeking rule or fleshly, carnal revenge for themselves.  Those He used were honorable citizens with clean hands and clean hearts longing for a heavenly country whose builder and ruler is God.

Honor: Honoring the King

By Pastor Kevin Brown

There are two sides to honoring civil authority. One part is practiced by those who honor civil authority out of ultimate honor for God, who gives authority to civilians, while maintaining ownership of it. The other part of honor is demonstrated by those in authority, who honor God by realizing the authority they have is to be used on His behalf. Honoring civil authority is rooted in the realization that it is a gift from God for those in authority, and those they serve with that authority.

Honor: Honoring Civil Authority

By Pastor Kevin Brown

We’ve been walking through this series on Honor, The Culture of God’s Kingdom, for eight weeks and our entire focus thus far has been on honoring God. We’ve spent so much time here because God is supreme and He deserves the utmost honor from us. The deeper reason is — all honor is ultimately unto God and if we don't truly honor God we won’t truly honor others. Said differently, we can clearly see our honor of God where we see our honor of those He’s commanded us to honor. There are few areas where this command is more challenging, particularly of late here in the US, than God’s command to honor civil authority.

Honoring the Promise of the Father

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Jesus promised the disciples He would send the Holy Spirit. Jesus assured them the Holy Spirit would be even more effective in their lives than He had been during His earthly ministry. The Holy Spirit’s entrance into our lives at salvation, changes our course for eternity. But Jesus makes another promise after His resurrection and before His ascension, that we shall receive power, not when the Holy Spirit takes residence, but when He comes upon us. It is our Honor, pursuit and receiving of this promise that empowers us to live and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Honoring the Holy Spirit

By Pastor Kevin Brown

To honor means to esteem highly, fix the value, revere or respect. The distinguishing characteristic of the culture in the Kingdom of Heaven is its honor for God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirt. We’ve been learning how to joyfully restore honor for the sovereign rule of the Father in our lives and how to submit ourselves and our view of the world to the Word. Today we begin to understand who God the Holy Spirit is and what it looks like to honor Him in our lives.

The Word Frames the World

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The Word of God created the Universe -- all of time, space, planets, moons, minor planets, stars, galaxies, intergalactic space, all matter and energy. It is creations' honor of the sovereign rule and Word of God that keeps it in place. Mankind was created by the Word too. But dishonor -- a lost of reverence, value and esteem for the Word, has caused our view of the world, ourselves and God's intent for creation to be radically altered. Honoring the Word restores His intent for how we see ourselves and how we see and function in the world.

Honoring the Foundation

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The Kingdom of Heaven is built upon an unbroken and unified honor of the sovereignty of God.  Every creature in the Kingdom of Heaven respects, reveres and highly esteems God's rule over all creation.  Nowhere is honor for God's sovereignty more clearly seen than in how all of the Kingdom of Heaven esteems His Word.  To honor His Word is to honor Him

Pledging Allegiance to the Kingdom of God

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Honor changes the way we see the world. When we respect, hold in high esteem, revere and fix the value of God and His sovereign rule, the world and everything in it becomes His again. Make no mistake, there's never been a time that the world and everything in it were not His. Dishonor just deceives us into believing this world and our lives are ours to do as we please. If we are to ever see and enjoy creation as God intended, we will bow our knees and joyfully welcome His rule into our lives -- Pledging Allegiance to the Kingdom of God.

Honoring God's Sovereign Rule

By Pastor Kevin Brown

God is sovereign — creator, supreme ruler and ultimate power over all that is seen and unseen. God alone upholds and sustains all of creation, possessing the authority, freedom and power, to pre-determine and bring about His desire. All honor in Heaven and on earth is rooted in the joyful pursuit and acceptance of God’s sovereign rule. All dishonor is ultimately rooted in the refusal to acknowledge God as sovereign ruler. At the close of this age and the coming of His Kingdom in its fullness, all creation will confess and honor Him as Lord — those in heaven, on the earth and under the earth. We’ve been given the enviable privilege of honoring Him as sovereign now.

The Sovereignty of God

By Pastor Kevin Brown

To honor means to respect, fix the value, hold in high esteem, to revere. Heaven's culture is shaped by the absolute honor all who reside there give to God the Father, Son and Holy Sprit.  This culture of honor is rooted in the joyful acceptance of God’s sovereign rule.  Sovereignty stands alone as the distinguishing characteristic that makes God — God.  As surely as honor, the culture of Heaven, is rooted in acknowledging and joyfully accepting God’s sovereignty — dishonor and the cultures of this world are rooted in a disdain for and rebellion against God's sovereignty.

The Culture of God's Kingdom

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Honor is a forgotten and nearly lost aspect of contemporary culture.  To honor means to respect, fix the value, hold in high esteem and to revere.  God's Kingdom is shaped and forged in honor.  In Heaven, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are held in the highest esteem.  Every creature in Heaven reveres the Godhead and lives in a culture created and sustained by the author and architect of life.   If we are to truly see and experience God's Kingdom coming on earth and into our lives, we must be delivered from the dishonor that has shaped us and this present world.

Flashback Sunday: The Hope of the World

By Pastor Kevin Brown

What our families, churches, communities, cities, nations and world need now, more than anything else, is hope. Not just the vain hopes of mankind but the preordained hopes heaven has for us. We must become courageous and willing to surrender our here and now lives to become portals and vessels of God's hopes.  Christ in us is the hope of this world.

Flashback Sunday: Revealing God as Father to the World

By Omar Reyes

God created the world and from it’s inception established a foundational principle, the context from which all His activities would flow would be out of Family. To try to understand the bible outside this context leaves in an institutional world of cold and lifeless ideas. In these last days God’s number one priority is the restoration of this environment.

Flashback Sunday: A God Pleasing Heart

By Pastor Kevin Brown

There are a few heart issues that can be so persistent in our lives that they cause us to miss what God has in mind for us. These issues typically begin in our childhood and become such a part of how we think, see and experience the world that we become convinced that's just how I am. One of the grand daddies of these heart issues is people pleasing, also known as the fear of man. If we're ever going to get glorifying God in our hearts right, we will have to start by dethroning the opinions of others and giving God His rightful place.

Flashback Sunday: The Inner Dialogue: A Voice to Leap

By Minister Curtis Myers

Our greatest challenge is not our external obstacles but rather our internal dialogues.  Past experiences, words of others, failures, and successes are constantly speaking to us about our present situations and future expectations. It is this self talk that drives our actions and responses to life’s challenges which are actually opportunities to see the power of God in our lives.  When we run into challenges and opportunities, do we listen to that voice or God’s?  In order “Break Out” and “Leap” into the plans God has for us, His voice has to dominate our thoughts, experiences, and confessions.  The stakes are too great for us to limit the plans God has for us because of our inner dialogue.

Flashback Sunday: God of the Second Mile

By Pastor Kevin Brown

If we took the time to think about it we would all realize there have been people in our lives who turned the other cheek, gave us the coats off their back and gone another mile for us. Not one of us is self-made. We’re all the result of gifts given by others. We’re happiest when we embrace this fact and respond by doing the same. Jesus commands us to live on this earth as He did -- merciful, gracious and generous. He travelled further and gave more than any of us ever will. His command is an invitation, to live life as an extension of Him -- giving ourselves to become the body of the God of the second mile.

Flashback Sunday: Uncommon Love is a Matter of the Heart

By Minister Mike Dixon

Holy Spirit will compel us to go into uncomfortable situations and environments to express the love of God with signs and wonders, manifesting the gifts of the Spirit. In this message the Lord also reveals five things that can contaminate our hearts and prevent us from hearing from God when He directs us to flow in love. When our hearts are empowered with agape love, we can step into any situation and shift the atmosphere.

Flashback Sunday: Alone Time with God

By Pastor Kevin Brown

We could create a long list of things that might be useful in helping us to develop faith in God. But we would be hard pressed to create any list that didn't have spending time alone with God right at the top. More than anything Jesus' life was characterized by the time He spent alone with His Father. Although He left His Father physically and there were 3 heavens seperating them, Jesus never spent a moment away from Him. Jesus' life was so radically influenced by His time alone with the Father that He is recorded in the bible saying, "if you've seen me you've seen the Father." Our first reaction upon hearing that is probably, well that was Jesus. But how can we honestly call ourselves disciples, followers of Jesus and excuse ourselves from this life defining truth about Him? Jesus spent time alone with God.

The Changing Face of America

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Our world, our nation, and our communities are changing rapidly around us.  More than ever before this nation is becoming a mosaic of different ethnicities.  America is now the most ethnically diverse nation in the world with an extraordinary variety of colors, classes, and national origins.  God has literally brought the world to our doorsteps.  God has an end in mind for His Church -- the bride of Christ and the stage has been set.  Jesus didn't give His life for something undefined and obscure.  He gave Himself for a clear and defined end our heavenly Father had in mind.  Some think Jesus' bride -- the Church is white, others believe she is black or tan, while still others believe she is colorless.  But the face of the Church that Jesus gave His life for is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural.  His bride comes from every nation and every tongue.  Our generation and the one to follow, if the Lord tarries, has a unique opportunity to surrender our comfort, prejudices, hatred, anger and preferences to be a prat of God getting what He wants.

The Death of the Church As We Know It

By Pastor Kevin Brown

If we surveyed 100 people asking about the Church and God’s original intent, we would likely get 100 different answers.  In most cases, for Christians and non-christians alike, we have lost sight of God’s definition and intent for His Church. Church is the most powerful relationship a human being can have.  It is not a building.  It is not an organization.  It is not an association.   It is not a denomination or our religious traditions.  Church is a living, breathing relationship that comes into being when God the Father reveals who Jesus is and we accept Him and His unique role in our lives.

The little god of Greed

By Pastor Kevin Brown

For most of us our greatest idol is greed or more commonly called, the love of money.  We harbor and rehearse the thought: "if I had more money, my life would be better and I could do more things."  On the surface, this statement is true, widely believed and accepted; but a closer look reveals the lie — the greatest change in my life will come not when I get more of God or He gets more of me, but when I get more money.  Herein lies the deadly seduction of idolatry…we make a good or amoral thing the ultimate thing.  More than romantic love, success or even power, the little god of greed reigns supreme and destroys more lives, families, societies and countries than all of the other gods combined.  The love of money is the root of all evil.

FATHER'S DAY 2016

The Father's House

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The Father’s House is not a place of perfection — it's a place of redemption.  The Father loves and relates deeply with His family bringing them into a relationship with Himself that produces wealth.  The Father’s intent from the beginning has been to express His redemptive love to and through the uniqueness of each of His children.  The desire of the Father is that there would be no widows, no orphans, and none that are homeless, due to the redemptive love flowing from His house.

The little god of Religion

By Curtis Myers

In man’s pursuit of God, the pursuit itself has become an idol and what God wants has been devalued. This has caused many traumas throughout human history ; wars, abuse, genocide all in the name of the little god of religion. Our efforts to become godly has drawn us further away from what should shape us –our genuine relationship with Him. If we are to walk in the depths of his love and experience the richness of true relationship with God, we must dethrone the little God of religion. When we want what God wants we will find a contentment that religion can never provide.

Dethroning the Little god of Romantic Love

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Idolizing romantic love often goes undetected. But the consequences of idolatry never go unfelt. When we place our greatest hopes in a romantic relationship it fails. No human relationship, including marriage, is designed to carry the weight of our deepest needs for love, acceptance, worth and wholeness. When God says He will have no other gods before Him, that includes making a god out of a relationship with another person. Dethroning the little god of romantic love is not about trying to love less. It’s about coming to the realization that we must love god more. When we put the weight of all of our hopes, dreams and expectations in a person other than Christ, it destroys them and it destroys us. Christ’s love for us and our love for Him must be the love before which all others bow.

The Little god of Romantic Love

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Our obsession with romantic love is blatantly evident in today's culture.  In our songs, movies and novels we create stories that exalt romantic love to god-like proportions.  Romance Writers of America report, romance novels grossed nearly 1.1 billion in sales in 2013, with 84% of those sales coming from women ages 30-54 years old.  Many of us men long to be the hero, with the beautiful woman, who celebrates and reveres us like a god.  This longing too often plunges us into the murky waters of pornography and illicit sex, which is a multi-billion dollar industry.  God is love, and He gave us romantic love to enjoy.  But romantic love becomes perverted when we look for a relationship with another person to meet all of our needs for value, acceptance, wholeness and joy.  This distorted kind of happily ever after always ends in disappointment, sometimes catastrophe and too often destruction.

Dethroning the Little god of Success

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Success is one of the most highly exalted little gods of our day. Modern culture celebrates the "top of the heap” like deity. But when our sense of identity and worth become wrapped up in our achievements, we are perched on a slippery slope that ends in destruction. God’s prescription for dethroning the little god of success is holiness. Success lives to please self and impress others. Holiness lives to please God and serve others, by demonstrating what’s acceptable to Him. We begin dethroning the little god of success when we come to the place where we refuse to be “successful” before men and rejected by God.

lil gods: TRANSFORMERS - Time to Change

By Minister Mike Dixon

“I don’t have time for that” – how often have you heard or said these words? Time is a precious gift given to us by God. However, if we are not careful we can be deceived into making “time” a little god. Impatience, anxiety and bitterness can lead us to forfeit the plans and purposes of God because we believe we just don’t have enough time.

lil gods: I See You

By Minister Angela Brown

Without question, the office and work of woman is undervalued, at times fueling our desperation for attention and credit.  However, our insatiable desire to “be seen” blocks us from becoming the woman God sees.
As a continuation of the “Little gods” series, this Mother’s Day message examines the idol of vanity and the consequences of “seeking our own” upon our lives, families, churches, communities and the plan of God.

lil gods: Worshipping the Little god of Success

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Little gods rarely begin as bad things. Little gods are typically good things that we make ultimate things.  They are the things we worship and sacrifice our lives for in a vain attempt to get what only God can give.  Success is one of the favorite little gods of our day.  Modern culture celebrates and deifies the "top of the heap". There's nothing wrong with giving our all, working hard, persevering and experiencing success.  But when our identity, worth and personhood become wrapped up in our achievements, we've made success a little god and little gods never deliver on their attempts to give us what only God can.

lil gods: Dethroning the Little god of Power

By Pastor Kevin Brown

I learned this week that Harriet Tubman, a former slave and abolitionist, is going to be on the twenty dollar bill. She will replace former President Andrew Jackson - a slave owner - on the front of the new bill and Jackson will be moved to the back.  The irony and poetic beauty of a black woman and former slave moving a white man and former president anywhere, much less onto the back of the twenty dollar bill, brought me to my knees this week.  I was 41 years old on January 20th, 2009 when Barack Hussein Obama II was sworn into office as our 44th President, describing himself in his inaugural address as, “a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant.”  There's a calling and an incredible heavenly hope attached to our being born at this point in history.  The overwhelming majority, of the forces that make us who we are, lie in the hands of God. We are the product of three things—genetics -- to whom we're born, environment - when and where we're born, and our personal choices — two of which we have absolutely no power over.  We aren't nearly as responsible for our "high places" as popular culture's views of life have led us to believe.  Today, we will look closely at the necessity of dethroning the little god of power, if we’re to ever faithfully serve the living God.

lil gods: Worshipping the Little god of Power

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Today, we begin looking closely at the little gods or idols that are most common among us. There’s a large percentage of our lives over which we’re powerless— when we’re born, where we’re born, to whom we’re born, the circumstances into which we’re born and when we die, to name a few — as a result, apart from the security found in Christ, many of us become enslaved to worshipping the little god of power. When we worship and serve the little god of power we invest our lives into chasing security and significance by climbing proverbial ladders, connecting ourselves to the “right people” and fighting to get into social circles and positions of influence. We’re fooled into believing by sacrificing our lives and the lives of others to this little god of power, we can become influential and have what mankind calls power. In the end this little god disappoints and can’t give us the security and significance we all crave, because true power belongs only to God.

lil gods: In the Pursuit of Happiness

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Every human being lives for something. We're all designed by God, in such a way, that something must capture our imaginations, our affections, our loyalty and give us hope. God’s intent has always been Christ in us being that hope and our desire for His glory being the thing that captures our imaginations, affections and loyalty. But in this world, filled with lil’ gods, many live in pursuit of their own glory, tirelessly searching for ways to acquire things, positions and a sense of fulfillment, willing to sacrifice anything or anyone to achieve them. The plain truth is, without the intervention of the only true and living God, our pursuit will never be God and many will be lost entirely, in the pursuit of happiness.

lil gods: The Making of a lil god

By Pastor Kevin Brown

We often believe we’ve placed our faith in Christ but come to discover it’s really in success, true-love, fame, fortune or the life we’ve always wanted to live.  Our culture teaches us to believe these pursuits hold the key to happiness and fulfillment in this life. It’s not surprising so many in our present day feel lost, alone, disenchanted, resentful and even angry towards life and God. When we take good things and make them supreme things they become the little gods that drive and control our lives. There is only one God who can wholly satisfy our cravings for significance, worth and true fulfillment and until we teach our hearts to embrace that truth we will keep making our little gods.

Resurrected: An Easter Celebration

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Reflected by our calendars B.C. and A.D. designations, the Resurrection of Christ is the greatest event in human history. The Resurrection is the source of the most profound hope that we will ever find too. Through His suffering, death, burial and resurrection Jesus not only paid for our sin, but He also shows us how to overcome our darkest days, deepest doubts and discover our greatest joy. When God resurrected Christ from the dead He laid a foundation upon which we can rest knowing, there’s nothing He can’t bring us through.

Embracing the Unexpected:
Inviting Jesus In

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Today we celebrate Palm Sunday. This day commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and marks the beginning of Holy Week — the final week of the Messiah’s earthly ministry. Like the jubilant, palm-waving crowd that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem we have expectations when Jesus enters our lives. And like that crowd, if we are going to experience Him for who He truly is and who He truly intends to be in our lives — we must ready ourselves to embrace the unexpected when inviting Jesus in.

His Plans for Our Victory

By Minister Curtis Myers

This series has challenged us to examine our understanding of hope & hopelessness. Hope means to actively wait for the fulfillment of what God has birthed in us through the power of His love. Hope is a longing for what’s been revealed and is being made possible through faith in God. In those times when we “Don’t See What God Sees” or when we experience a “Lengthy Wait” or “When God is Changing Us” not our circumstances, there is a blessed assurance that He has plans for our victory. While victory is sweet, enduring hopelessness is part of the difficult process that brings out the glory that God intended for our lives. He uses all the ingredients in life to produce His plans for our victory.

The Hope of Glory

By Minister Angela Brown

Hope is a longing for what’s possible through faith in God, but those who have faith in God are not the only ones with hopes.  In fact, the God of hope has hopes, and chief among them is that the whole earth would “be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord,” according to Habakkuk 2:14. Colossians 1:27 reveals the hope of glory is Christ in us.  Simply put, God has not only entrusted us with hope, but with bringing to pass what He is hoping for.  In other words, we are either standing in the way of, or ushering in, God’s hopes.  This message will highlight that reality, defining the process and increase our desire for Christ being formed in us—the hope of glory.

God Give Us Strength

By Pastor Kevin

Our lives are the embodiment of God's hopes for this earth. Two-hundred and fifty babies are born world-wide every minute because God still has hopes for this world and the people in it. But with God’s hopes comes hopelessness, because apart from Him we can do nothing. This world is full of hopelessness.  It's full of people carrying God's hopes without His strength. Our only hope in this world is God’s strength due to His hopes within.

His Strength for His Hopes

By Pastor Kevin

God causes us to hope for what He is hoping for.  But we’re neither capable or prepared to fulfill God’s hopes.  Hopelessness comes when we don’t clearly understand what God wants; His hopes take longer than we anticipated; or He allows difficult situations to persist.  We must learn to wait on the Lord to receive His strength for His hopes or we will live lives that are chronically hopeless.

Wholehearted Hope

By Pastor Kevin

Apart from God, this world and our lives quickly become dark and hopeless places. God never intended for us to be here apart from Him. His plan has always been for us to be so vitally tied, bound and hitched to Him, that we would be the hope of His glory in this world. It’s not uncommon for us to forget His intentions for us and lose our way here. Waiting on the Lord restores His hopes in our lives, causes our hearts to become increasingly committed and produces a supernatural courage within us.

Hope Restored

By Pastor Kevin

Hopelessness is so common in this broken world that we can be seduced into just accepting it as a part of life. While hopelessness may be life for those who have yet to come into relationship with Christ, it is in no way God’s plan for His family in the earth. God intends for us to be the light and hope in this world. Today we begin to address the question — How do we hope again?

He’s Changing Me

By Pastor Kevin

Throughout our lives we will experience different kinds of hopelessness in this broken world. The hopelessness we experience, while unique to each of us, can be placed in three broad categories. We experience the hopelessness that comes when what we want for our lives is different than what God wants. We experience the hopelessness that comes when difficulty persists in our lives and we lose hope that it will ever change. But the most difficult kind of hopelessness that we will experience often comes when we long to see a situation in our lives changed but God is focused on changing us.

When Difficulty Persists

By Pastor Kevin

There are different kinds of hopelessness that can arise in our lives. Last week, in the life of Hannah, we saw a hopelessness that God uses to purify our faith when our hopes are incongruent with His. There’s another kind of hopelessness that is just as pervasive. This kind of hopelessness springs up when difficulty persists in our lives. It works to change the way we see and think about ourselves, others and God. We must learn to cling to, trust in, and follow after God’s goodness when difficulty persists.

Hope in the Midst of Hopelessness

By Pastor Kevin

There’s nothing more vital to God’s intentions for us than our need to have an understanding of hope. Biblical hope means to actively wait for the fulfillment of what God has birthed in us through the power of His love. Hope is a longing for what’s been revealed to us and is now being made possible through our faith in God. But when what we’re hoping for differs from what heaven is hoping for, God allows hopelessness to purify our faith and bring us into alignment with His will. Today we begin learning how to find His hope in the midst of our hopelessness.

Hope in the Land of the Hopeless:
The God Who Hopes

By Pastor Kevin

Last week I offered a New Testament definition for hope — hope means to actively wait for the fulfillment of what God has in-birthed through the power of His love. Hope is a longing for what’s been revealed and is being made possible through faith in God. This definition shows hope from man’s perspective but it begs the question, “does God hope?” When we see hope from God’s perspective an unshakable “living hope” is birthed within us. We’re being redeemed by a God who hopes.

Hope in a Hopeless World

By Pastor Kevin

As we enter into the first days of 2016 there’s nothing more significant regarding God’s intentions for us than the need to have an understanding of hope. The first days of a New Year are unlike any other days for the simple fact that they represent hope. New Year’s eve in particular is the one day where the entire world agrees the old is behind and something new is dawning. But there are significant differences in the way the world sees and defines hope and the way God sees and defines hope. Today we begin a journey to understand what it means to have hope in a hopeless world.

One Another, Together as Jesus Prescribed: Honoring One Another

By Pastor Kevin

Heaven is distinguished from all other places by its culture of honor. Heaven is a place where reverence and esteem for God and one another is fixed in the eyes and hearts of its citizens. Reverence and honor permeate all of Heaven and is freely given by all who reside there. By contrast, the Kingdoms of this world are marked by dishonor. Very few things here are regarded highly, everything and everyone is a candidate to quickly be made common and treated with disregard. If we’re ever going to unlock the deep well of goodness that’s been placed in each of us for all of us, we must learn to honor God by honoring one another.

He Came to Serve Us

By Pastor Kevin

Joy to the world! Today we celebrate the meaning and centerpiece of Christmas — God sending His only Son to give His life as a ransom for many. The Father giving His Son for us is a staggering truth and the grandest gift ever given in the history of mankind. It is essential that we understand, Jesus was given to serve the world not to be served. Celebrating Christmas means truly comprehending and holding dear this truth — He came to serve us and apart from Him we can do nothing.

By Michael Dixon

What would happen if we prayed for one another as much as Holy Spirit desires? God earnestly desires and requires our participation in His great plan for the manifestation of His kingdom. As we join forces with heaven through prayer we will create a kingdom culture of love that will permeate every facet of society and usher in a new dimension of God’s power and grace!

Identity, Becoming the You He Knew:
Submitting All

By Pastor Kevin

Identity is about discovering who Our Father knew us to be before we entered this world. Much of who we are today is the result of what’s happened here, rather than what was intended there. Our Father’s intent has always been to place us in this world at a specific time in history, for specific plans and purposes. His intent has never been for us to become a product of this world. Becoming who He had in mind means realizing the exceeding greatness of being His child, discovering the depth of His plans found only through commitment, and submitting to the destruction of our natural identity, so that our true identity might be resurrected.

Identity, Becoming the You He Knew:
Totally Committed

By Mike Dixon

The obstacles, challenges, difficulties and traumas in our lives are not unknown to God. He, in His great wisdom can use the seemingly bad times to mold us into His image, and ultimately fulfill His purpose for our lives. But this requires that we recognize our true identity and our totally committed to the process God uses to perform His will in and through us.

Your Real Identity

By Curtis Myers

Our identity frames our ability to function in this world. However too many external factors have answered the "Who am I?” question. Our culture, family background, education, socio-economic status, and past experiences have defined and shaped our identity and consequently guiding our pursuits. God wants to use those factors in His purposes for our lives but only in our relationship with Him will we ever find, understand, and walk in our real identity. He wants you to become the you He knew.

Plenty, Developing Faith in God’s Provisional System: Money and Material Riches

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The Kingdom of God has its own flourishing economic system. God provides for His children and His will in the earth through miracles, grace/favor, faith, money and material riches. The earth is His and everything that fills it. God has preordained plans to bring glory to Himself and His Kingdom through His plentiful resources. Money and material riches are the lowest form of God’s resources in the earth. Unlike miracles, grace/favor, and faith, money and material riches can be pursued apart from Him. They can be used to oppose God’s will and become an idol, or they can be used to glorify God and establish His will in the earth.

The Substance of Faith

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Faith is the most beautiful and precious of all resources that God gives to establish His will in the earth. Faith is the substance that causes us to see the unseen realities only God sees and want the unimaginable things God Himself preordained for our lives.

The desires and visions that come as a result of faith make us long for the power, might, counsel and ability that grace provides, helping us to bring those dreams and visions into being. It’s true we fulfill the plans of God and are made into the people that He created us to be by grace. But it is faith that causes us to see ourselves being and doing what God preordained before the foundation of the world.

Favor the Other Side of Grace

By Pastor Kevin Brown

We’ve learned that God promotes, positions and brings us into the places and plans He’s preordained for our lives. He also provides what is needed to carry out His plans in those places and positions. God’s provision can be described in (4) four basic forms: miracles - the highest form of resource He uses, overriding the laws of creation in order to establish His will in and through our lives; grace - where we are weak or incapable in our strength or ability, God gives us His wisdom, power, might and counsel so we’re equipped to be and do what He wills; favor - is the other side of grace where God uses other people to provide the resources, know-how, or influence needed so we can be and do what He wills; in the weeks to come we will take a closer look at faith and money/material resource.

Great Expectations

By Mike Dixon

What do you expect out of life? This thought permeates our minds in every area of our lives. Very often we are frustrated with life because things are not going as well as we expected. But the greatest question is “what is God expecting out of our lives?” His expectations are greater and better for us than anything we can imagine for ourselves. It is imperative that we discover what God expects for us; how He reveals His expectations and the process we must go through in order to fulfill them.

The Sufficiency of Grace

By Pastor Kevin Brown

God promotes, positions and brings us into places He has preordained for our lives. He also provides what is needed to carry out His plans and intentions in those places. God’s provision is not limited to money and material resources. In fact, money and material resources are the lowest form of provision, they can not provide all that's needed to become and do what God has purposed for our lives. Grace is the key resource God uses to equip and furnish us and His grace is sufficient.

Promotion is Waiting on You

By Curtis Myers

Our culture is constantly challenging us to be upwardly mobile to receive the benefits and perks that our hearts desire. In seeking all the other things we can lose sight of the most important thing, the fulfillment that can only be found in our relationship with Him. God defines promotion very differently from our culture and He has promotion waiting for us. We must embrace walking with Him and following Him in accomplishing His plans as the essence of promotion.

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Plenty is about the abundant mercy, grace, faith and peace that God uses to promote us into the acts, works, plans and intentions He had for us before the foundation of the world. Plenty is not only about God getting us to be what He has destined for us to be and equipping us to do the things He has preordained us to do; Plenty is also about God causing us to have what He needs us to have in order to accomplish what He has ordained. God does not only position us in His plan, He also provides for His plan.

The Supernatural Process of Promotion

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Promotion is a supernatural process that involves our whole person for our entire lives. It is not merely material, social, intellectual or spiritual. Promotion is the transformation of the total person, affecting the entirety of how we see, think, live and function. As long as we believe promotion is simply knowing more or having more we will continue with our futile attempts to promote ourselves. It’s when we come to understand the all encompassing nature of promotion that we willingly submit and give ourselves entirely to God and His supernatural process of promotion.

Promotion Comes from The Lord

By Pastor Kevin Brown

When we think of promotion we typically think in terms of getting something we never had. When God thinks of promotion He thinks about restoring what always was. We were God’s children before we became orphans. We had access to all that was needed, to be, do and have what God purposed, before lack entered the world. We saw, thought and functioned according to God’s design, before we lost eternal life. Promotion means restoration and Christ is restoring us to what the Father always had in mind.

Plenty, Developing Faith in God's Provision:
I Have Provided for You

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The entire human condition has been so turned against God that our passions, cravings, and mindset are stuck in absolute rebellion against Him. The depravity of our heart rebellion is so pervasive that even our desire for God is a result of His grace at work. Only the enormity of God's grace and kindness towards us can bring about such an altered state of existence that we can be transformed from people headed for God’s wrath, to His beloved, participating in bringing about His will, plans and activity in the earth. He has provided for us and His provision is plenty.

Plenty, Developing Faith in God's Provision

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Our being made God's children through adoption is one of the most staggering realities in all of creation. Our adoption is bigger than the world, it was before the world and it will remain after this world. We have been adopted by God the Father at the expense of His Son Jesus. Through Christ, God the Father has provided for all of our needs. The Father has anticipated and prepared for every need that we will ever face and He did it before the world even began. We must develop faith in His over abundant provision for our lives or they will be shaped by the spirit of this world and not the grace of God.

Matters of the Heart: The Heart of the Matter

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The heart is the most significant part of our being. It’s the part of us no one sees, yet it produces everything that’s seen. Our heart is the essence of who we are. It is the seat of our intellect, reasoning, desires, emotions and passions. Who we are at the heart level matters more to God than anything else. He doesn't major on our outward appearance like man does. He looks on our heart knowing it is the wellspring from which our lives come gushing out. God knows the quality of our lives, both here and forevermore, is entirely a matter of the heart.

Matters of the Heart: Heart of A Steward

By Pastor Kevin Brown

There are a few heart issues that can be so pervasive in our lives they cause us to miss what God has in mind for us. These issues typically begin in our childhood and become such a part of how we think, see and expereince the world that we become convinced that's the way it is. One of the grand daddies of these heart issues is ownership. God did not create mankind with the gifting, capacity or grace to own. God designed our hearts to manage what He owns. If we're ever going to get freed from competition, covetousness, pride, independence and a plethora of other related heart issues we will have to start by dethroning the idea that we are owners and learning to be God’s stewards in the earth.

Matters of the Heart: A Peace Filled Heart

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The matters of our heart either make us or break us in life. Our heart is the essence of who we are. It is the seat of our thinking, reasoning, desires, emotions and passions. Peace in the heart is the source of healthy, fruitful and fulfilling life. We can have everything externally but without heart peace we will continually abuse resources and relationships. Conversely, we can have nothing, but if we have heart peace we’re positioned to be as healthy, fruitful and fulfilled as one can possibly be.

Matters of the Heart: Facing Challenges

By Dr. Bishara Awad

Recent events have made it painfully clear that we live in a world plagued with violence in spite of the declaration of Jesus in John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

So why aren’t we experiencing peace in this world? Because, peace is a matter of the heart. In this message, special guest Dr. Bishara Awad shares his testimony of the power of forgiveness and the significant role it plays in the peace process.

Church Anniversary "perfect God. perfecting people"

By Pastor Kevin

The Perfecting Church began with the God-inspired thought, “If this Church was no longer present would those who don’t attend its Sunday gatherings even notice?” We began with the God-birthed intent of “becoming” the Church, not simply establishing another place people would attend on Sunday. The Church was never created to be a place where we gather to consume religious services for our own benefit. Jesus’ intent was that His Church would be lives transformed into servants and followers of Him extending His loving Kingdom to neighbors locally and globally. In four short years He has caused us to become just that. We are the fruit of a perfect God, perfecting people. He is reconciling us to His original intent for our lives.

Matters of the Heart: The Heart of the Father (Motherhood)

By Pastor Kevin

Dishonoring the calling of father and mother is among those heart issues that can be so deep and destructive that they cause us to miss God’s intent for our lives. The world teaches us that fatherhood and motherhood are the result of a relationship with the opposite sex. But in the Kingdom of God these roles are God’s desire and intent for every male and female. Motherhood is the result of a woman’s relationship with The Father not with a man. Only God the Father can draw out the distinct characteristics of Helper, Nurturer and Adapter that are unique to the role of mother.

6/21/15
Matters of the Heart: The Heart of the Father

By Pastor Kevin

Whether we're fatherless, have the greatest dad in the world, or somewhere in between, there's truly no way to understand what it means to be a father, apart from the Father. The Father sees beyond what is, into what can be, bringing life and hope to all He encounters. The Father is the source of all things and He takes responsibility for all that proceeds from Him. The Father is steady and constant, providing a secure dwelling for all of creation. Becoming a father is the fruit of a relationship with the Heavenly Father, not the fruit of a relationship with a woman. Many boys and men have produced children but have never truly become fathers. There are those who have no children of their own but yet they are fathers. It is the Father's will that every male on this planet would become a father.

Matters of the Heart: A God Pleasing Heart

By Pastor Kevin

There are a few heart issues that can be so persistent in our lives that they cause us to miss what God has in mind for us. These issues typically begin in our childhood and become such a part of how we think, see and experience the world that we become convinced that's just how I am. One of the grand daddies of these heart issues is people pleasing, also known as the fear of man. If we're ever going to get glorifying God in our hearts right, we will have to start by dethroning the opinions of others and giving God His rightful place.

Matters of the Heart: Heart Surgery

By Michael Dixon

Understanding the condition of our heart is critical to fulfilling our purpose in Christ. The enemy sows seeds of doubt, despair and distress in our lives in an effort to contaminate the soil of our hearts. This contamination affects our marriages, our relationships, our employment, and our service to God. Discover the keys to a purified heart. Without it, we will only be shells of what our Father intended for us.

Matters of the Heart: A Change of Heart

By Michael Dixon

The condition of our heart is a direct indicator of our spiritual maturity in Christ. All of our hearts are hard toward God in one area or another, so what does it mean to have a "hard" heart and what are the 5 things that most often make our hearts hard toward God? Our Father needs our hearts to be pure so that He can manifest His glory through us to the greatest degree. By recognizing how the enemy attacks and abuses our hearts and how God heals and transforms our hearts, we will be empowered to manifest the Kingdom of God in the earth to the fullest.

Matters of the Heart: It Starts with the Heart

By Pastor Kevin

Nothing is more frustrating and destructive than trying to deal with life's issues on our own, blinded by stress, hurt and pain. No matter how hard we try to do things better, apart from God we are incapable of changing our hearts. He alone is the one able to take us from being set in our destructive, self-willed ways to the abundant and fulfilling lives He made us for and that we desperately crave. It all starts with the heart.

A Mother’s Heart: It’s Complicated Pt.2

By Angela Brown

Upon creation, it was God’s plan that our identity be found in Him.  However, since Eve instigated the fall when she “took” matters into her own hands, mankind’s identity is no longer shaped by God, but conceived in sin which produces the complications in our lives.

A continuation of the series “Matters of the Heart,” part two of “A Mother’s Heart:  It’s Complicated,” highlights the importance of the daily ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives to restore mankind and the vital role of woman in the restoration of the family.

A Mother’s Heart: It’s Complicated

By Angela Brown

“It’s Complicated” is a term that’s gained popularity in recent years through the advent of social media. One of the 11 options offered to describe one’s “Relationship Status” on Facebook, the term can denote ambiguity or dissatisfaction within a relationship. While we annually praise our mothers as virtuous women at least once a year quoting Proverbs 31:28 “Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her,” in reality, maternal relationships can be “complicated.”

As a continuation of the series “Matters of the Heart,” this Mother’s Day message examines the influence of the “mother of all living,” highlighting the vital role of woman in the plan of God and the tools to restore healthy relationships with the mothers in our lives.

Matters of the Heart: What Shapes
Our Heart?

By Pastor Kevin Brown

Our hearts have been and will continue to be shaped by something. The lives we live day-in-and-day-out are largely the result of the way our hearts — our intellect, reasoning, desires, emotions and passions — have been shaped throughout the course of life. Prior to Christ that shaping came largely through our families, our surroundings and our experiences. But in Christ it is God’s will that we continue to offer Him our hearts allowing them to be shaped by Him. God’s intent is for His entire family to have a Christ-formed heart.

Matters of the Heart: A Pure Heart

By Pastor Kevin Brown

God says our heart is the most significant part of our being. It is the combination of our spirit and soul; it is where our intellect, reasoning, desires, passions and emotions can be found. He says the most significant thing that this part of our being can do — is to glorify Him. If God were simply a man such a request would be nothing more than vain. But since God is the creator of all things such a request is love. To glorify God in our heart — our intellect, reasoning, desires, passions, and emotions — is to think, feel and ultimately act in ways that reflect God’s supremacy, not only in us but in all of creation. Glorifying God in our hearts is to trust Him to shape and define our experiences and actions because He alone is God.

The Heart Matters Most

By Pastor Kevin Brown

The heart is the most significant part of our being. It is the part of us that no one else sees, while producing everything that is seen. Simply put our heart is the essence of who we are. It is the seat of our intellect, reasoning, desires, emotions and passions. Who we are at the heart level matters more to God than anything else. He doesn’t major on our outward appearance like man does. He looks on our heart knowing it is the wellspring from which our lives come gushing out. He knows our quality of life both hear and forevermore is entirely a matter of the heart.
